GO-TO SCRIPTURES: When You Long for HOPE & PEACE

“I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.” – Acts 2:25-26, NLT

HOPE and PEACE. Oh, how we need them in this crazy world we live in! We can so easily forget the promises of God that keep us grounded. And we must return to His Word over and over again to keep our eyes focused on the One who holds all things together–Jesus Christ. The very One who holds us together when everything around us may seem to be falling apart.

As Colossians 1:17 says: “…in him all things hold together.”

The Bible is full of comforting words and truth about Almighty God and His wonderful promises to us. I’ve pulled together some of my favorites that I turn to whenever things in life start dragging me down. And I pray they will be a comfort to your soul as well.

“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple. For in the days of trouble He will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.” – Psalm 27:4-5

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” – Psalm 27:13-14

“Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.” – Psalm 28:6-7

“I sought the LORD and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him. He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.” – Psalm 34:4-9

You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.” – Psalm 71:19-20

“’Because he loves me,’ says the LORD, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.” – Psalm 91:14-16

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:28-31
